All I Want is Pleasure and to Avoid Feeling Pain

A series of six ceramic sculptures informed by Freud’s Pleasure Principle and Buddhist teachings on attachment— both suggesting that we chase pleasure to escape pain, only to become more deeply entangled. The sculptures emerged as raw, mud-like bodies in states of alarm, marked by phallic and orifice-like forms: desperate, bodily attempts at self-soothing.
